American casualties had reached 1,214 KIA, 5,704 WIA, 329 MIA. Japanese KIA +/- 11,000. The garrison continued active patrol action against Japanese holdouts until the end of the war.

Summary: Originally published in the 1950s by the USMC Historical Branch, this is an official USMC campaign history. While it records primarily the 3rd Marine Division and the 1st Provisional Marine Brigade, it also includes details on the 77th Infantry Division.

This official Marine Corps battle and campaign history originally written by the U.S. Marine Corps Historical Section in 1954 also provides combat operations detail of the U.S. Army's 77th Infantry Division. Includes a rare listing of ALL U.S. Navy ships participating in the Guam Operation. These editions are exact reprints of the highest quality and are large 8.5"x11.25" cloth volumes colored blood-red and embellished with rich gold lettering. Two columns of text per page and exceptionally well illustrated with 97 photographs, 34 maps & drawings. 248 pages.
