BATTLE FOR THE CRIMEA-In October 1941, the German 11th Army broke through the Soviet lines. A series of bloody battles ensued that cost the Russians two whole armies. However, the tide turned after the German defeats at Stalingrad and Kursk. Cut off and isolated in the Crimea, the Germans faced massive Russian attacks before surrendering Sevastopol in May 1944. This episode, from the landmark television series Battlefield, features fascinating archive footage from all over the world.
