USS YORKTOWN (CV-10). This excellent pictorial records her long and important roles with the US Navy through WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
Commissioned in April, 1943, USS Yorktown (CV-10) saw enough service in World War Two to be awarded 15 Battle Stars and a Presidential Unit Citation. She continued to provide valiant service for the Korean War and for the Vietnam War, and she was eventually decommissioned in 1970. This excellent pictorial records her long and important roles with the US Navy. More significantly, it also does an outstanding job of identifying her various weapons and sensor systems and her propulsion plant capabilities. Softcover, 60 pages, with a multitude of great photos. Two 22-inch full color centerfolds show the Yorktown as she appeared at her outfitting in 1943 and at her decommissioning in 1970. This book is a must for students of naval history, for all persons interested in aircraft carriers, and for modelers.
