Follow the 81st Infantry Division as it successfully drives dug-in Japanese forces off Anguar in the Palau Islands in a battle that was supposed to take two days & instead took 2 months, and became one of the war's most costly and bloody battles. This initial combat action proved that the "Wildcats" could meet the test of island warfare.

[2] BATTLE FOR LEYTE AND LUZON. It took two ferocious months and heavy casualties but the battle for Leyte was another important step in the island-by-island conquest of the Pacific. Includes exciting coverage of the naval action as well as ground combat footage of the 10th Corps & 24th Corps of the Sixth Army in action.

[3] PAYOFF IN THE PACIFIC. This is the complete story of our war against the Japanese. You relive the horror of jungle warfare and the savagery of "the island war." you see our men pushed back from the Philippines and later regain it and all our lost territory. An excellent account with some of the best wartime film available. The 81st suffered its highest casualties on a single day on 28 Sept. 1944 on Anguar.
